Most of the time this is done with assistance from an attorney.  A well-structured estate plan can help to be sure that your heirs and beneficiaries receive assets in a way that manages and minimizes estate taxes, gift taxes and other tax impacts.

  2. Account for the needs of your family

  3. Establish directives

  4. Review/Update your beneficiaries

  5. Take note of your state’s Estate Tax laws

  6. Consider the value of professional help

  7. Plan to review and reassess yearly
