Crucial Considerations to an Estate Planning Review*

WHAT IS ESTATE PLANNING?

Simply put, it is the process of designating who will receive your assets in the event of your death or incapacitation. Most of the time this is done with assistance from an attorney.  A well-structured estate plan can help to be sure that your heirs and beneficiaries receive assets in a way that manages and minimizes estate taxes, gift taxes and other tax impacts.

Estate Planning Checklist

  1. Inventory your belongings

  2. Account for the needs of your family

  3. Establish directives

  4. Review/Update your beneficiaries

  5. Take note of your state’s Estate Tax laws
